Created for Bleacher Report and House of Highlights in the summer of 2020, The Drop In, a new remotely hosted series designed around a Zoom call. A professional athlete would drop in on a school team meeting and surprise unsuspecting students.
I handled art direction and motion design by creating the title sequence as well as a robust template system using MOGRTs.
Role: Art Direction + Motion Design
Our pilot episode featuring NBA Basketball player Gordon Hayward gained national news including coverage on CBS News, as well as Gordon Hayward posting about the video himself on his Instagram.
Initially, the series was named Lunch Break. From the get go, I had the lunch tray motif in mind. Because this series revolved around dropping into a zoom call, I used it as a starting point and created a stylized version of a typical call. From there I incorporated a digital glitch transition to the lunch tray, featuring a name tag that was able to be easily edited for future guests. During production, the title of the series changed, which then required me to rethink the end frame.
In the second iteration, I replaced the final scene with various floating objects, keeping the name tag, and turning the logo lockup into a faux 3D version to add to the illusion of depth.
